Connects2′s Steering Wheel Interface adds Bluetooth to BMW’s

Recently Majestic Music had the pleasure of integrating Bluetooth into a pristine 2000 BMW 328i.  I know what you’re thinking, “it’s a 2000, what’s the big deal?”  Here’s the deal, BMW didn’t start getting into Bluetooth until 2005 or 2006.  Even though many of these vehicles have phone controls built into the steering wheel or say “Pre-Wired for BMW Cellular Phone” in the trunk.  There is no factory Bluetooth solution for the earlier 2000 model years.

So what do you do?  Add an aftermarket unit that sticks to the dash with a little control knob or LCD screen?  Start drilling holes for a nice custom mount somewhere in the dash?  Add one of those universal units that mount on your visor, but never seem to be charged up when you need to use it?

None of those options allow you to use the buttons on the steering wheel, and none of them are very complementary, from a cosmetic point of view, to the elegance or level of class that is associated with a luxury vehicle such as a BMW.

Using a module from a UK company called Connects2 and a Parrot CK3000 Evolution Bluetooth kit we were able to achieve flawless integration into the BMW’s business class stereo and steering wheel controls.  100% functionality and 0% cosmetic impact was the goal and we succeeded.  You would never even know anything was installed, giving the appearance that the vehicle came stock with Bluetooth built in!
