Bluetooth & Hands-Free

MKi9200

No doubt you’re familiar with the terms Bluetooth and Hands-Free in today’s world.  The latter being pretty self explanatory on its own.  The word “Bluetooth” however sometimes needs a little more definition.  Bluetooth is not a thing you can touch or feel, it’s a technology.  It is was way to wirelessly transfer information or data from once source to another.  Use the term Bluetooth like you would use the word wireless or WiFi.

Most commonly, Bluetooth is known for giving you the ability to have a hands free phone conversation while you drive in a safe and convenient way.  Because it allows you to focus on the road ahead and keep your hands on the wheel.  Once you have the voice dialing setup on your phone, you can simply press a button and say “call home” and your radio gets muted, your phone dials and you have a hands free conversation.  When the call is done, press a button to hang up and the radio turns back on.

Most Bluetooth devices or interfaces actually allows for much more than just a phone call. Being it just basically allows for the transferring many different types of data, it opens the door to many possibilities. Some devices have additional services available that allow the system to read your text and emails to you as you drive. The reality is many people cannot live without their phones and devices, they have to check that text message as soon as it come in. They have to be “connected” 24/7.  Adding Bluetooth is merely a step, an important one, in allowing you to stay connected while driving. In many states it is required by law (to be hands free while driving) and is the safest and most convenient way to do so while you travel.

Another very common usage of Bluetooth in the vehicle is data streaming.  Streaming is a way of saying it “flows”.  A perfect example would be using a smartphone (Android, iPhone, Blackberry) to “stream” Pandora Radio through the vehicles sound system.  I turn on my phone, boot up my Pandora App and it begins to “stream”, or play, the music through my vehicles stereo system.  No wires, nothing plugged in, just wireless data flow or streaming from one device (my phone) to another (the Bluetooth interface).  Another example would be to stream the music (mp3s) on my phone through the vehicles sound system.  It can be a factory system or an aftermarket one, but if we’ve integrated your ride with any of today’s Bluetooth devices, chances are you can be doing all of this as well.

There is no better way to stay socially connected than with the Parrot MKi series of Hands-free devices.  There are three units in the series.  Each unit is a Hands-free Music system with Voice activated calls, texts, emails & social updates, compatible with all phones and vehicles.  Listen to your digital music through your iPhone/iPod, MP3 player, USB drive, or Bluetooth streaming.  Software updates give you compatibility for future phones.  The differences in the three are relative to the display.  One has a color TFT 2.4″ dot matrix screen, one has a 2-line blue OLE Display and the last one has no display at all.  The two with screens display caller ID information.  All units are also available with Parrots TextFriendly.
